The DR3 quasar catalog and the accompanying paper are now available.

The University of Portsmouth has joined the SDSS collaboration. Please use the updated acknowledgement in your publications making use of SDSS data.

DR3 paper has appeared

A short paper describing the DR3 has appeared as Abazajian et al. 2005, AJ 129, 1755.

About DR3 explains what is new in DR3.

The most important changes to the web site and data access:

• The Known problems page collects all known issues, subtleties and problems with the data in one place.
• The DAS retrieval form now offers the option to generate a download list for use with wget. This should speed up download of long lists of files compared to rsync.
• The CAS database server contains two databases RC3 and Stetson, with photometry from the Third Reference Catalogue of Bright Galaxies (RC3) and photometry collected by Peter Stetson at http://cadcwww.hia.nrc.ca/standards/, respectively. See the CAS help pages on databases for instructions to access them.
• The CAS contains a new Field Quality table called 'RunQA'. See this description of the RunQA table.
